Vladimir Kagan
Vladimir Kagan is one of the most significant designers of the 20th century, a pioneer of mid-century modernism whose work remains as fresh and irresistible today as it was when he first made his name, some 60 years ago. After studying architecture at Columbia, Kagan apprenticed for his cabinet-maker father, before opening his first shop in New York in 1949, producing sleek, curvilinear tables and chairs for some of the post-War era’s most worldly clients. Kagan’s work found its way into the private collections of Marilyn Monroe, Andy Warhol, David Bowie and Tom Ford, to the public collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and San Francisco’s Museum of Modern Art.
