Ladurée Macarons at The Mark for Turn-Down

The Mark is excited to announce the introduction of Ladurée macarons to our turn down service. Ladurée will provide their tastefully bright macarons in delightful boxes specially created for The Mark. As guests’ head to their rooms to wind-down from a day exploring New York City, they will find these delicate treats by their bedside on their first nights stay.

Ladurée recently opened the doors to its Madison Avenue store in July 2012 but their small, delicate macarons have a long and rich history. In 1862 Louis Ernest Ladurée opened his little bakery on the rue Royale and almost 20 years later, Ladurée’s cousin Pierre Desfontaines created the macaron they became famous for. Desfontaines developed the idea to fix two pieces of the mellow macaron cake with a garnish of a tasty flavor. In that moment the small, fluffy cake that is crunchy on the outside and melts on the inside, became a delicacy that would be appreciated around the world.

In 1993 Ladurée was bought by David Holder, whose vision for the company led to the opening of Ladurée stores all over the world; from Paris and London to Tokyo and Sydney. Ladurée continues to expand its illustrious empire, teaming with brands like Uniqlo and The Mark, with a range of chocolates, candies and candles available in stores, and the opening of a tearoom in Downtown New York, firmly placing it on the world stage.

The strollers feature the iconic design elements of The Mark – black and white stripes, orange details and The Mark’s signature monogram. Created exclusively for our guests traveling with children aged between six months and five years, The Mark strollers are not just an added convenience but are the ultimate accessory this spring.

Movie Night Menu is a combined menu of family friendly DVD’s alongside a selection of theater-favorite snacks. Zittles, located on the third floor of Zitomer’s apothecary, is a wonderland of both classic and state-of-the-art toys for children. The Mark’s Metropolitan Museum Scavenger Hunt

The first in a long line of family fun initiatives we are launching in time for Spring, The Mark is pleased to announce the addition of a museum scavenger hunt for our tween guests. The newly opened American Wing in The Metropolitan Museum provides the perfect backdrop for this art-focused scavenger hunt for 10-14 year-olds. The Mark’s resident tour guide, Wendy Lubovich will lead a trail that highlights paintings, sculptures, and artifacts, uncovering intriguing clues along the way. For 1.5 hours the children will enjoy this fun, informative exploration of American art. The tour includes several stops throughout the museum as well as an interactive element where the children can try out their artistic hand.

Wendy Lubovich is a graduate of Christie’s Education in London with a Fine and Decorative Arts degree. She has been an educator at the Frick Collection and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City. A writer specializing in art and design, Wendy brings a curiosity and directness into understanding art. Wendy’s passion is to connect people and art in a creative and conversational way and The Mark is very excited to have her join our team.
