Ladurée Macarons at The Mark for Turn-Down

The Mark is excited to announce the introduction of Ladurée macarons to our turn down service. Ladurée will provide their tastefully bright macarons in delightful boxes specially created for The Mark. As guests’ head to their rooms to wind-down from a day exploring New York City, they will find these delicate treats by their bedside on their first nights stay.

Ladurée recently opened the doors to its Madison Avenue store in July 2012 but their small, delicate macarons have a long and rich history. In 1862 Louis Ernest Ladurée opened his little bakery on the rue Royale and almost 20 years later, Ladurée’s cousin Pierre Desfontaines created the macaron they became famous for. Desfontaines developed the idea to fix two pieces of the mellow macaron cake with a garnish of a tasty flavor. In that moment the small, fluffy cake that is crunchy on the outside and melts on the inside, became a delicacy that would be appreciated around the world.

In 1993 Ladurée was bought by David Holder, whose vision for the company led to the opening of Ladurée stores all over the world; from Paris and London to Tokyo and Sydney. Ladurée continues to expand its illustrious empire, teaming with brands like Uniqlo and The Mark, with a range of chocolates, candies and candles available in stores, and the opening of a tearoom in Downtown New York, firmly placing it on the world stage.

For Ladurée, tasting a macaron is indulging in an unforgettable moment of pleasure. And we couldn’t agree more!

The Mark is pleased to introduce a range of amenities and services designed to both delight our youngest guests and offer an added level of convenience to families staying at the hotel.

The Mark Strollers: The Mark captures the attention our youngest VIP’s with our bespoke strollers designed by innovative stroller manufacturer, Maclaren. Our custom-designed strollers are ideal for a walk through Central Park or a shopping adventure along Madison Avenue. The strollers feature the iconic design elements of The Mark – black and white stripes, orange details and The Mark’s signature monogram. Created exclusively for our guests traveling with children aged between six months and five years, The Mark strollers are not just an added convenience but are the ultimate accessory this spring.

Movie Night Menu is a combined menu of family friendly DVD’s alongside a selection of theater-favorite snacks. Families staying at The Mark are invited to borrow from our library of DVD’s and Blu Rays and enjoy a family movie night in the comfort of their suite at The Mark! The Mark’s fleet of custom bicycles is exclusively available to hotel guests. Manufactured by Republic Bike, the bicycles incorporate elements of this NYC hotel’s exquisite design by Jacques Grange including a striped chain case and monogrammed bells. The Mark Bikes come complete with signature black helmets and baskets.

For the ultimate picnic in Central Park enjoy a ‘lunch-to-go’ created by celebrated chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. The gourmet picnic basket includes all the picnic essentials – blanket, cutlery and condiments. As a finishing touch, The Mark’s award-winning chef concierge, Isabelle Hogan, has curated an illustrated bike map to help guests navigate Central Park.

Zittles at The Mark

The Mark is excited to be working with local toy emporium, Zittles, on a brand new amenity program which is sure to delight our suite guests’ most important VIPs, their children. Zittles, located on the third floor of Zitomer’s apothecary, is a wonderland of both classic and state-of-the-art toys for children. Upon arrival, our youngest guests will receive a GUND teddy bear, a Zittles tote and a gift certificate towards their first purchase at Zittles or a custom Mark bath toy for their enjoyment in our deep soaking bathtubs.

The Mark’s Metropolitan Museum Scavenger Hunt

The first in a long line of family fun initiatives we are launching in time for Spring, The Mark is pleased to announce the addition of a museum scavenger hunt for our tween guests. The newly opened American Wing in The Metropolitan Museum provides the perfect backdrop for this art-focused scavenger hunt for 10-14 year-olds. The Mark’s resident tour guide, Wendy Lubovich will lead a trail that highlights paintings, sculptures, and artifacts, uncovering intriguing clues along the way. For 1.5 hours the children will enjoy this fun, informative exploration of American art. The tour includes several stops throughout the museum as well as an interactive element where the children can try out their artistic hand.

Wendy Lubovich is a graduate of Christie’s Education in London with a Fine and Decorative Arts degree. She has been an educator at the Frick Collection and the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City. A writer specializing in art and design, Wendy brings a curiosity and directness into understanding art. Wendy’s passion is to connect people and art in a creative and conversational way and The Mark is very excited to have her join our team.

The Mark is proud of its prime location in one of Manhattan’s most exclusive neighborhoods. One of the resounding comments amongst our guests is how much they appreciated our central location to Manhattan’s main attractions.

Central Park:

There is so much to explore in this wonderland that is known as the heart and lungs of the city. Since its completion in 1873, Central Park has been one of the great equalizers of Manhattan with approximately 37.5 million people discovering its secrets annually.

Madison Avenue

Nestled neatly between 77th Street and Madison Avenue, The Mark neighbors many elegant retailers and restaurateurs. Madison Avenue is one of the world’s premier shopping destinations. Some of the biggest names in fashion are housed along the avenue, particularly north from Barneys New York on East 60th Street.

Museum Mile

The Mark is situated only a few blocks away from the cultural center of the world: Museum Mile. A total of 10 museums cluster Fifth Avenue between 82nd and 110th streets, making the ensemble actually longer than one mile.
